The Academy is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the game with the aim of getting golfers to a level of on-course competency, which will allow them to progress to full membership of the Club. It offers a tuition-based package which allows new or novice adult golfers to learn golf and enjoy the benefits of being a golf club member. It is a perfect follow-up to ‘Get into golf’/intermediate coaching. The Club aims to be of assistance at every stage of a member’s development.

Academy members receive individual coaching with our PGA Professional, Peter Buchan, tuition in the rules and etiquette of golf, access to the golf course though a ‘green card’ scheme and entry to Academy roll-up competitions. Academy Membership is issued in the name of an individual. It runs for a period of 12 months from the date of joining and is non-renewable.

The Package
The package includes, but is not restricted to:

• 10 x half hour golf lessons with Peter Buchan, which can be taken individually and/or in small groups and will cover all aspects of the game. These lessons can be taken on the practice range or on the golf course.
• Rules and etiquette sessions.
• Academy members will be required to obtain a ‘green card’ before they receive playing rights on the course. This is a certificate of basic playing proficiency, safety awareness and understanding of course etiquette. ‘Green cards’ are issued by Peter Buchan after a playing lesson(s) when he is happy that the basic proficiency level has been achieved.
• With a ‘green card’, access to the golf course at off-peak times (Monday to Friday after 1pm, weekends after 2pm) through the Club’s tee booking app.
• A monthly roll-up for the Academy when members play with one another.
• Academy members are expected to work towards a World Handicap System (WHS) playing handicap during their Academy year, although it is not necessary to achieve a particular playing level.
• A Club card offering a 15% discount on alcoholic and soft drinks purchased at the bar. Your card will be pre-loaded with £25 of credit.
• An Academy bag tag and access to the Clubhouse and practice facilities.
• Opportunity to attend Club social events/functions.
