Further Information for Golf Societies

Course information
Strawberry Hill Golf Course is a historic course that was planned before current design safety standards were developed. Many tees and greens are very close together as are the centre lines of fairways. Our compact course is surrounded by housing, a children’s playground and on one boundary abuts a junior school with its playground and playing field.
Please be advised that extra care is needed when playing our course which rewards careful course management, club and shot selection.  It does not suit those wedded to their “driver” or who prefer a “grip it and rip it” style of play!

Competency to play/handicap requirement
For safety reasons we operate a competency policy. This means that all visitors are required to have valid WHS™ Handicap Index® (or equivalent) and CDH Number to play our course. You are responsible for providing this information for each golfer in your Society booking.  If a golfer does not have a handicap please do not include them in your booking as they will not be able to play the course. This applies to all members of your group.

Safety information
Before making your booking, please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the course safety information (this information is also available for golfers on the day by scanning the QR code on the scorecard). In making a booking you confirm and consent on your and your group’s behalf, that you have read, understood and agree to the competency-to-play and course safety information requirements, and that all golfers in your group agree to comply with the safety notices and guidelines whilst playing on our course. If you have any doubt about competency requirements to play the course or safety issues, please discuss this with the Club Manager for assistance before completing your booking.

Waldegrave Course
Societies play the Waldegrave course (yellow and blue tee markers).  A scorecard for the Waldegrave course contains all the essential information and local rules. If you are playing 9 holes you can choose to play from either the yellow or blue tees but not a mix of both. If you are playing 18 holes you should play the course in order - the front 9 holes off the yellow tees and the back 9 holes off the blue tees. Note, men and women play from the same tees although the par for some holes differs.

Course etiquette
All players must have their own golf clubs/bags. We also request that you follow our dress code on the course and in the Clubhouse.
